For the full data ownership provisions applicable to Event Hosts, including clauses 6.1–6.5, please refer to our Terms and Conditions, Section 6.
Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) grants you the following rights with respect to your personal information:
To exercise any of these rights, submit a verifiable consumer request to: support@sparkmysport.com. We will respond within 45 days as required by California law. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request.
Children Under 13 — COPPA Compliance
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without prior, verifiable parental consent.
- A parent or legal guardian must complete and verify their consent before a child's account is activated on the platform.
- Parents may review, correct, or request deletion of their child's personal information at any time by contacting support@sparkmysport.com.
- We will not condition a child's participation in platform activities on disclosing more personal information than is reasonably necessary.
- Contact information for users under 13 — including phone numbers, email addresses, and social media handles — is never displayed publicly and is not accessible to other platform users.
- We do not sell or share the personal information of users under 13 with any third party for commercial purposes.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13 without proper consent, please contact us immediately at support@sparkmysport.com and we will promptly delete such information.
Minor Users Ages 13–17
For users between the ages of 13 and 17, SparkMySport applies additional privacy protections beyond our standard practices:
- Profile visibility defaults to "coaches and event hosts only" — public visibility requires explicit opt-in by a parent or guardian.
- Social media handles, phone numbers, and email addresses associated with minor accounts are not publicly displayed without explicit opt-in by a parent or legal guardian.
- We recommend parents create a linked Parent account to monitor and co-manage their teen's profile and privacy settings.
- Minor users under 18 cannot enter into binding legal agreements. Parental or guardian acknowledgment of our Terms and this Privacy Policy is required for all users under 18.
- Adult users — including coaches and event hosts — are prohibited from initiating unsolicited direct contact with minor users outside platform-approved communication channels.
Data Security
We implement and maintain industry-standard technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:
- Transport Layer Security (TLS) encryption for all data in transit
- Encryption of sensitive data at rest
- Role-based access controls limiting internal access to personal data on a need-to-know basis
- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Incident response procedures designed to contain and remediate breaches quickly
In the event of a data breach that affects California residents, we will provide notification as required by California Civil Code § 1798.82 within the timeframes specified by law. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at support@sparkmysport.com.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide you with platform services. When you request account deletion:
- We will delete or anonymize your personal information within 45 days of a verified deletion request.
- Certain data may be retained for longer periods where required by applicable law, regulation, or legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention, tax obligations, or ongoing legal proceedings.
- Aggregated or de-identified data derived from your information may be retained indefinitely as it can no longer be reasonably linked to you.
- Backup copies of data may persist for up to 90 days following deletion from active systems.
